BETH HAIM APP

בית חיים

The Beth Haim of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is the oldest Jewish cemetery in the Netherlands. YiPP made the app that reveals the hidden stories.

Approximately 28.000 people are buried at the Beth Haim of Ouderkerk a/d Amstel. The triangular shaped terrain dates back to 1614. Today, the cemetery is considered unique and has become internationally famed for its stunning monumental graves, many of which belong to renowned Portugese Jews. Additionally, some 10.000 Jews were buried here under simple laying tomb stones, many of them now slumped into the ground.

Stories

YiPP created the app that reveals the many stories behind the people buried at Beth Haim. The cemetary was completely unaffected in doing this. Visitors can choose to roam around freely and see all the points of interest on their mobile device, or choose one of the special routes. These include a special route about Rabbis, a merchants route and a route that is devoted to Spinoza and the Golden Ages.
All content is stored in our YiPP CMS system so adjustments can simply be made by Beth Haim staff.
