The Euromast, the famous 185-metre tower in Rotterdam, opens a new experience on the ground floor of the tower. In close cooperation with partners YIPP worked on a captivating multimedia experience about Rotterdam's rich history.
In an interactive floor projection, the story of Rotterdam is told. From its first settlement in 1028 as ‘Rotta’to its transformation it into the vibrantmetropolis it became by 1850. An extra layer is added to the story by an interactive floor projection where visitors, after a big unexpected flood, dry the land with their own movement and thereby lay the foundation for a dam being built for the city of Rotterdam. With lots of prototypes and tests, we created an interesting, responsive and immersive experience.
Digital tests and finetuning of the land that appears in the water. We played a lot with color, shadows and lighting, trying to match is as good as possible with the light from video on the wall. And luckily we could test this at our YIPP lab: projection is so much different than what you experience on the screen!
A first impression of the interaction in a simulated digital environment.
