Raad van de Raaf

Wereldmuseum Amsterdam

In the children's exhibition ‘Council of the Raven’, children actively engage with and explore Greenland's nature and culture.

The exhibition invites children to discover all about Greenland's culture and nature. They become part of the Council of the Raven, a group of children concerned about climate change. YIPP developed a cooking game where children can work with traditional Greenlandic dishes, an interactive wall where an ancient legend is told, a recording studio where children can leave their own ideas to protect the earth, and finally, a ritual that allows them to join the Council of the Raven.

Cooking with whale

In the kitchen, the children get to work on traditional Greenlandic dishes. After choosing a recipe from the cookbook, they will look for the ingredients in the kitchen and find the right quantities. Cutting the ingredients is then done digitally. This combination of physical and digital components creates a realistic, playful, and interactive experience that encourages children to work together.

Interactive story

A large interactive wall shows the goddess of the sea surrounded by animals. Children are called to touch the right animals. The touch is detected with a depth camera and the story continues.

Stop climate change

In what looks like a photobooth, visitors can take a seat behind the curtain and leave their ideas for a better climate. Your inventions, appeals to world leaders, or opinions will be recorded in a video visible to those outside the booth.

Member of the Raven's Council

By placing their hand on the ice, children take part in a ritual to become members of the Council of the Raven. A depth camera detects the hand and transforms the handprint into a feather on the screen. Several feathers form a Raven that slowly flies away.
