Three-Climate Greenhouse
Hortus Amsterdam
The all-new Three-Climate Greenhouse in the Hortus Amsterdam is a unique combination of a living collection, innovative technology and multimedia components.
In the multimedia exhibition “Perspective” and using plants and landscape, visitors discover more about the relationship between plant biodiversity and climate. YIPP was asked to develop the interactive “Stand still with nature”.
Stand still with nature
You will find the “Stand still with nature” interactive at the end of your visit. The aim is to make visitors stop and think about the place of humans in the (plant) world. By standing completely still, your body, visible in a silhouette on a life-size camera image, becomes completely overgrown with plants.

Prototyping in our lab
A motion camera detects any movement and if there is any wiggling, the vegetation immediately retreats. The plants are recognisable as the species visitors found earlier in the greenhouses.
Hortus visitor: 'You find that you are made to think. Can I make other choices?'
