Carpet Museum

Genemuiden

A former factory in Genemuiden, where rush and coconut mats were once manufactured, has been transformed into an inspiring museum. Here you can discover how craftsmanship, innovation and design come together. YIPP developed an immersive space in which the entire carpet production process can be experienced.

After an inspiring visit to Genemuiden, where we were able to experience the entire carpet production process with the team, from design and raw materials to packaging and transport, we set to work to convey the same feeling and experience in a single immersive space.

This space showcases the process, innovation and journey of the carpet. A combination of physical controls and digital feedback has been created. And there is room for personal choice and input regarding the choice of colours for the carpet, for example. The multitude and versatility of the process are translated into this interactive experience.

We also created a digital addition to a loom so that visitors can try their hand at traditional carpet making unsupervised. By adding YIPP's expertise, the rich history and future of the carpet craft in Genemuiden become visible, audible and tangible for every visitor.
